Allan Cayer

Allan Cayer

General Manager - Ottawa, Canada Location

Allan Cayer attended George Brown College where he completed courses to become a dental technician with dreams of someday owning and managing his own lab. After finishing at George Brown College, Cayer took a job at Shaw Dental where he was sent to "problem" labs all over Ontario to train other employees. Though he was only 21, he was able to stabilize these businesses. Three years later he decided to start his own lab manufacturing dental materials, dentures, and crowns. A year after he set up Dental Technology Group, Inc., the economy went into a recession and Cayer's lab had no clients. Rather than declaring bankruptcy, he said he decided to work around the clock to save it and eventually built it into the second largest lab in eastern Canada.

It was over thirty years ago that he co-founded DTG Dental Lab with the vision of providing exceptional quality and service for every case. After a hiatus outside the lab industry he has returned to his role as Lab Manager for MicroDental Ottawa (formerly known as DTG). Very few professionals are better positioned than Allan to integrate new technologies, in a way that is advantageous to dental teams and their patients. Allan personally hired and trained the majority of the technical talent that still works on cases every day; this is both a testament to his eye for talent, and his leadership skills.
